The seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (12-2-4, 7-0-2 CC) gets set to host the first round of the NCAA Tournament where it will face Saint Joseph (Conn.) (12-1-6, 5-1-3 GNAC) Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Centennial Conference Tournament Recap
F&M fell to Muhlenberg 2-0 in the semifinals of the CC Tournament. The Diplomats tallied 19 shots with seven on target in the contest. Koa Kaliebe and Philip Monos each recorded two shots on goal in the game. Kaliebe sent an attempt from the top of the box in the 67th minute, but his shot rang off the post and bounced away from the net. Two minutes later, Oscar Horwitz rocketed a shot towards the net, but it was punched over the crossbar by the Mules' goalkeeper. The Diplomats were eliminated from the tournament, while Muhlenberg advanced to defeat Johns Hopkins by downing the Blue Jays in PKs (5-4) to claim the CC championship. Read the recap here.

The Diplomats are no stranger to the NCAA Tournament, as they have qualified every year since 2013, with the exception of the 2020 season being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last season, the Diplomats blanked SUNY Poly 5-0 in the first round of the tournament. Koa Kaliebe scored the Diplomats' fifth goal of the game. Oscar Horwitz tallied an assist in the win. F&M was defeated by Middlebury 2-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament last season.
Saturday's match will be the first time in program history where Franklin & Marshall plays St. Joseph (Conn.).
St. Joseph (Conn.) Team Preview
The Blue Jays come into Saturday's contest with a five-game winning streak, including a 2-1 win over Johnson & Wales (R.I.) to win the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship. Forward Benjamin Marchetti leads USJ in points (29) and goals (13) this season. Forward Dane Stephens has dished out a team-high nine assists this fall. Goalkeeper Matthew Goebel is 5-0-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 0.15 and a save percentage of 95.7 percent.

Medaille vs Cortland
After the conclusion of the F&M-USJ match, Medaille and Cortland will play each other at 3:30 p.m. at Tylus Field. The winner of the F&M/USJ game will face the winner of the Medialle/Cortland game in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
