The Franklin & Marshall baseball team (14-10, 1-1 CC) gets set for four Centennial Conference (CC) games this week. F&M hosts Gettysburg (14-9, 1-1 CC) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. before concluding the series on the road Friday at 3:30 p.m. The Diplomats then host McDaniel (13-8, 1-1 CC) Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
Last Week
Franklin & Marshall concluded it non-conference slate Tuesday afternoon with a 17-14 win at TCNJ. Drew Butera led the F&M offense with three hits, followed by Tommy Denlinger and Jakob Hoffman each tallying two. Eight different Diplomats recorded an RBI in the win with Hoffman and McCloskey claiming three each. F&M as a team drew 14 walks in the contest for a new program single-game record. The Diplomats began their conference tilt with a split doubleheader at Swarthmore on Saturday. In the 8-6 victory in game one, Bobby Falese rocketed a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the seventh to put the Diplomats in the lead. Greg Nieskens picked up his third win of the season on the mound, striking out four and allowing two earned runs in 5.2 innings of relief. Read the full recap here.
Last Time vs. Gettysburg
F&M swept Gettysburg in 2022, downing the Bullets 11-0 and 11-2. Denlinger, Spencer Berson, and Hoffman tallied four hits each in the series. Patrick Cettina led the series in RBI with six. Dan Galef earned the win on the mound in game one, striking out six while keeping Gettysburg off the scoreboard.
Last Time vs. McDaniel
The Diplomats beat McDaniel twice last season. F&M beat the Green Terror, 6-3, in game one before taking game two, 8-7.
F&M's game one victory was highlighted by a three-run walk-off home run from Tommy Denlinger in the bottom of the ninth. Kyle Roche had an excellent start in the contest, striking out eight in six innings of work. Stephen Turzai '22 was the winning pitcher in the game, striking out one in one inning of relief.
In game two, Bobby Falese racked up five RBI with four coming on a grand slam in the sixth inning. Falese also had an RBI-triple in the contest. Nieskens earned the win with eight strikeouts through five innings. Thomas McLaughlin picked up his first save of the season, striking out two in the final inning. Read the full recap here.
Gettysburg Team Preview
Gettysburg enters its series with F&M after splitting its CC opener at Ursinus on Sunday. Infielder Jack Pistner leads the conference with a .476 batting average. Pistner also leads the Bullets in doubles (eight), triples (six), and RBI (21). With 33.1 innings pitched, Connor Sikora has an ERA of 5.13 and holds the team-lead in strikeouts with 38.
McDaniel Team Preview
McDaniel plays a two-game series against Dickinson before battling F&M on Saturday. Infielder Joey Hubinger leads McDaniel with a .361 batting average. Hubinger also has 16 RBI, six doubles, two triples, and a home run this season. Pitcher Ryan Martino has an ERA of 4.83 with 29 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched.
