Hi, I'm Mrs. Brosnahan, your ELL teacher!

Let me tell you a little about myself!

I have been a teacher for 6 years and have taught ELL to all grades from Kindergarten to fifth grade! I graduated from Bridgewater State University with both my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Geological Sciences, and my master's degree in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL).

My favorite color is green, just like the name of our school! My favorite season is fall because I love the beautiful colors of nature and doing fall activities. I also love to spend time outside by the ocean in the warm months and go snowmobiling in the cold snowy months. For fun, I love to do arts and crafts and love to learn new things!

What is ELL?

An ELL (English Language Learner) is defined as anyone who does not learn English as their first and primary language OR anyone who is exposed to a language, other than English, regularly. In Fall River, we use a form called the Home Language Survey, which parents complete during school registration, to determine ELL screening.

According to the National Education Association, ELL learners are the fastest growing student population. It’s estimated that roughly one-fourth of all students in public school by 2025 will be ELLs.
