Teacher of Dance / Rambert Grades Co-ordinator
Aged two, I asked my Mum if I could go to dance lessons and it has been my main passion in life ever since. After training in the RAD Ballet syllabus I studied Dance at A Level in Stratford and went on to do a BA Honours in Dance and Somatic Practice at Coventry University. My time at University ignited my passion for Contemporary Dance and Dance for Camera. Through collaborating with Visual Artists and Filmmakers I was able to create and perform and knew then that I needed to find a career that enabled me to continue beyond University.
After completing my teacher training I started working here at Fallibroome. I’ve been here for 12 years now and still feel so lucky that I have the opportunity to continue to be creative and work alongside students and teachers with incredible specialist knowledge and passion. For me, Dance doesn't just promote a healthy body, it is a tool to nurture and support our students as they grow as people as well as performers.
Head of Dance
Following my training in Ballet and Contemporary Dance, I graduated from Middlesex University & State University of New York , having performed in works by Mark Baldwin and Shobhana Jeyasingh, performing at Sadler's Wells and The Southbank Centre. My teaching career began at the BRIT School for Performing Arts in London and I am currently the Head of Dance at Fallibroome.
My love for dance stems back to a six year old me, throwing myself around my childhood home to Kate Bush. Martha Graham famously said 'Dance is the hidden language of the soul'. I believe dance enables us to express who we are and connect with others. It brings us joy, wellbeing and a sense of being in the moment.
Contemporary Dance Teacher
Sophie’s love for Contemporary Dance in particular, blossomed when she successfully auditioned for The Lowry Centre for Advanced Training in Dance (CAT). Sophie completed her professional dance training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018, where she graduated with a first-class BA Honours Degree. Alongside her training, Sophie took placement periods with Phoenix Dance Theatre, Alexander Whitley Dance Company and Lea Anderson, as well as working with renowned choreographers such as Joss Arnott and Company Wayne McGregor. Following her time at Trinity Laban, Sophie became a member of JV2 (Jasmin Vardimon Company) where she delved into the world of physical theatre. She toured with the company nationally, concluding with the final performance at Sadler’s Wells.
Sophie is now a freelance dance teacher and artist across the North West, leading classes, workshops and projects at a mixture of institutions and companies such as The University of Liverpool, The Lowry and The Place CAT and several high schools, primary schools and dance schools and companies.
Contemporary Dance / Musical Theatre Teacher
After completing my A-Levels at The Fallibroome Academy, I went on to study Dance at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and graduated in 2023.
During my training, I suffered with a knee injury and had to defer my degree completion for 2 years. However, I ultimately think this made me stronger as a dancer and, due to this delay, I was fortunate to successfully audition to perform at Eurovision 2023, alongside LIPA students and alumni, with acts such as Rita Ora and Kalush.
Since graduating, I currently teach extracurricular classes at The Fallibroome Academy, including the Rambert Grades syllabus, alongside other local dance schools.
I have loved getting stuck in teaching and feel grateful to be able to give back to the places that provided me with a strong foundation in my dance training.
I still continue to dance vocationally with the ultimate goal being a career as a performer. I look forward to what the future has in store.
Year 7&8 Dance Club
I started dancing as a child, completing exam grades in Ballet, Tap and Theatre Craft. I then went on to study dance at college doing a variety of styles including Contemporary, Jazz and Street. I love that through dance you can tell stories, convey emotions, entertain and most importantly have great fun.
