All students participate in at least 30 hours of community service to graduate

Band and Choir Departments
Every two years the band and choir students have the option to go on a trip that explores the music industry. They also have clinicians come and work with the students; for example, a professional actor/singer, voice coach comes to the district to work with students and learn about their education, training, and career path. Students are also taken to honor choirs where they see what different music jobs at the college level are like. Community musicians accompany and work with our students individually to prepare them for contests.
Business & Information Technology Department
All Personal Finance students participate in the Real Life Academy, a budgeting simulation, partnership with Royal Credit Union along with career exploration.
Science Department
Offers multiple field trips and guest speakers in their career areas including the Aldo Leopold Foundation, ice fishing, aquatic ponds, and falconry speaker.
Social Studies Department
Offers guest speakers in Crime and Justice: Department of Natural Resources Warden and an officer from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department. American Government students have interaction with a representative from “Register and Vote Eau Claire” and are required to attend a governmental board meeting. Freshmen and Juniors engage in project-based learning. Projects involve students engaging in the community by interviewing community members, sharing their work with the community, and engaging in civic discussion across media platforms.
Technology and Engineering Education Department
Work with CVTC by offering Transcripted Credit Classes that promotes an early start to a career/degree.
Attend CVTC's Manufacturing show in the Fall and Spring. This gives students opportunities to explore career options.
Agriculture Department
COOP Work Experience class focuses on where and how to look for job openings, practice filling out job applications, design a resume and cover letter, participate in job interviews, write follow up thank you notes to include in a portfolio and learn about professional attire in the workplace. Students also conduct career research and research on famous entrepreneurs from various industries while exploring postsecondary options. Students complete multiple intelligence and interest inventories to determine interest and skill areas. Students examine cost of living analysis to determine adequate earnings. Junior Achievement is also utilized - Success Skills Program- Junior Achievement Career Success

Middle School
All 7th grade students take Introduction to Computer Technology and complete a career exploration project using the Xello website where interest areas are determined to identify career areas.
The 8th grade students attend the Career Fair, research a chosen career, then create and prepare a presentation.
Junior Achievement present lessons for both 7th and 8th grade classes: Junior Achievement
8th grade unit is called It's My Future. There are 6 lessons involving practical information about preparing for the working world while still in middle school. We have 3 volunteers teach the 6 lessons over the course of 3 weeks.
7th Grade unit is called Economics for Success. There are 6 lessons about personal finance and the importance of identifying education and career goals based on a student's skills, interests and values. Three volunteers teach the lessons over the course of 3 weeks.
In 6th grade guidance, students work through career-related activities in Xello. They do four Xello lessons related to connecting school to work, exploring their interests, time management, and decision making. They also complete interest inventories, personality styles, and learning styles which create possible future career matches for them to consider.
