Me As A Novice (Beginner) Teacher

I was a traditional teacher, my school system was not very helpful in providing required teaching resources & training to us about how to teach effectively. Therefore, our students were unable to achieve best results. I was not trained to write effective lesson plans, nor I knew anything about interactive teaching methods. I had difficulty managing my classroom as well. My students remained dis-engaged while I was teaching, and it becomes extremely difficult for me to control them and let them complete their work.

I also had no knowledge about creating tests and exam papers, hence my tests results were not satisfactory rather average. As a result of this, my parents were not satisfied with my teaching, my feedback was not good. At parent teacher meetings, I also had difficulty in dealing with parents.

My coordinators were after me to improve my test scores, improve classroom management, but they were not very supportive in guiding us.

After almost 1 year like this I realized that all my efforts are useless, because I have no proper knowledge about teaching and learning (pedagogy).

Therefore, I discussed with few friends and started doing some research, how to improve my teaching practices.
