A little bit about Mrs. Gorruso...
This is my 17th year teaching elementary art--my 3rd year teaching at Jennings, and my 7th year at McKinley. (I've previously taught for 4 years at Monroe Elementary School, and 6 years at Middlebrook Elementary School)
I have a B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Counseling and a double major in Psychology from The University of Connecticut. I have an art education certification and a masters degree in art education from SCSU, and a 6th year in from SNHU. I am currently working on earning my 7th year.
I have two children (Matthew 7, & Samantha 9), a dog (Lexi), two cats (Newman & Lola), and one husband (Josh)
I enjoy wearing crazy earrings (and have over 120 pairs!)
Claude Monet is my favorite artist
My favorite foods flavors are cheese & crackers, nuts, and chocolate covered caramel turtles
Pencil (observational drawing) and arranging flowers are my favorite art mediums
I enjoy spending my time gardening, volunteering with Samantha's Girl Scout troop, doing jigsaw puzzles, volunteering at the animal shelter, & teaching swimming and horseback riding lessons
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would revisit Maui, HI
Fun facts about me: I can juggle and I used to work on a cruise ship
