A little bit about Mrs. Gorruso...
This is my 19th year teaching elementary art, and I’m so excited to continue sharing the joy of creativity with students at Jennings (5th year) and now Roger Ludlowe Middle School (1st year)! Over the years, I’ve also taught at Monroe Elementary (4 years), Middlebrook Elementary (6 years), Stratfield Elementary (1 year), and McKinley Elementary (8 years).
I hold a B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Counseling, and a double major in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. I earned my Art Education certification and Master’s degree from SCSU, a 6th Year Certificate from SNHU, and I’m currently pursuing my 7th Year in Art Education through the American College of Education.
Outside of school, I stay busy with my wonderful family—my husband Josh, our two children Samantha (11) and Matthew (9), and our dog Lexi.
I’m known for my love of crazy earrings (I have over 200 pairs!) and my passion for creativity. My favorite artist is Claude Monet, and I especially enjoy observational drawing with pencil and flower arranging. My favorite food “flavors” are crunchy and cheesy—the best combo!
When I’m not teaching, I love gardening, camping, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching my favorite hockey player Matthew take the ice, volunteering with Samantha’s Girl Scout troop, and helping at TAILS Animal Shelter. I also teach swimming and horseback riding lessons in my free time. If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d revisit Maui, Hawaii—my happy place!
