Before You Go

Essential Question: What is the relationship between health, happiness and culture?

There is a lot to explore in your new country! But you don't have much time.

Before you go, you need to find out as much as you can about the country and the people. You then need to make hard decisions about what your travel focus will be. As a group you must cover as much of the country's land, people and culture as possible. Your group's experience must be a reflection of many aspects of the big ideas, understandings and themes you find in the country.

1. Know your group!

2. Know what country you are going to!

Day 1C - Choose Your Destination

Use the following resource to help you pick a focus for further research.

You have spent some time exploring this site in Social Studies. Now go back and find FOUR topics that interest you, BUT also relate the topic to the project's essential question:

What is the relationship between health, happiness and culture?

Write your FOUR topic choices in your Passport Notebook with an explanation of why you want to study this topic, how it relates to the essential questions AND how/why it connects to your interests. Again, your need FOUR entries like the ones below!

Day 2A - Pick a Destination

Now that you have chosen FOUR topics, meet with your group to share and review them all.

As a group, you should have a wide range of topics that cover the geography, culture, science, people and stories of your country.

Decide as a group who will do which topic. Circle the topic in your Passport Book to get ready to meet with your Tour Guide.

Checkpoint!

As a group, meet with your Tour Guide, to get your focus approved.
