ご挨拶｜Welcome Message

第42回個体群生態学会大会を2026年11月21日から23日にかけて、千葉大学にて開催いたします。ちょうど紅葉が見頃を迎える季節であり、穏やかで過ごしやすい時期となることを期待しております。

本学会の大会は、大きすぎず小さすぎず、参加者同士の距離が心地よい、バランスの取れた場であると感じています。「個体群内にいる生き物」を扱っていれば何でも歓迎、という懐の深さも本大会の特徴です。ゲノムから生態系、微生物から植物・哺乳類、数理からフィールド、基礎から応用まで、多様な研究が同じ場で自然に交わる。このような学際的で自由な雰囲気こそが、本学会の大きな魅力であると考えています。今大会では、その魅力をさらに引き出すべく、多様なトピックのシンポジウムを企画するとともに、十分な休憩時間を設けようと思います。発表を「聴く」だけでなく、じっくり「話す」時間を確保することで、日頃の疑問や悩みが思わぬ形で解決したり、新たな研究の着想が生まれたりする機会となれば幸いです。

なお、本大会の会場である千葉大学は、羽田空港・成田空港・東京駅のいずれからもアクセスしやすい立地にあります。最寄りのJR西千葉駅（または京成みどり台駅）を降りると、目の前がキャンパスです。東京方面からであれば日帰り参加も十分可能ですので、「気軽にふらっと立ち寄る」という参加スタイルも歓迎いたします。

紅葉とともに、研究の議論も色づく３日間にできればと思っております。多くの皆さまと千葉でお会いできることを、心より楽しみにしております。

The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Population Ecology will be held at Chiba University from November 21 to 23, 2026. This is a time when the autumn foliage is at its peak, and we hope it will be a pleasant and comfortable season for all participants.

The meeting of our society strikes a balance—neither too large nor too small—creating a comfortable atmosphere where participants can easily interact with one another. One of the defining features of this meeting is its openness: any research is welcome as long as it relates to organisms within populations. From genomes to ecosystems, from microorganisms to plants and mammals, from theoretical to field-based studies, and from fundamental to applied research, a wide range of topics come together naturally in a single setting. We believe that this interdisciplinary and open atmosphere is one of the greatest strengths of our society.

For this meeting, we aim to further enhance this appeal by organizing symposia on diverse topics and by ensuring ample time for breaks. By creating opportunities not only to “listen” to presentations but also to “talk” and engage in discussions, we hope the meeting will provide a space where everyday questions and challenges may find unexpected solutions, and where new research ideas may emerge.

The venue, Chiba University, is conveniently accessible from Haneda Airport, Narita Airport, and Tokyo Station. The campus is located right in front of JR Nishichiba Station (or Keisei Midoridai Station). For those coming from the Tokyo area, it is entirely feasible to attend for just a day, and we warmly welcome a casual, drop-in style of participation.
