DELF/DALF
French Language Assessment
Although there are many certifications assessing language competence in the United States, the emphasis here is on the DELF/DELF diplomas. For more information, contact gabriella.forster@diplomatie.gouv.fr
DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, taking into account all four linguistic competences: writing, reading, speaking and listening.
DELF Prim
The DELF Prim is intended for children learning French at primary school. It is the first stage in the DELF/DALF series, and is composed of individual certificates corresponding to the A1.1, A1 and A2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

DELF Junior/Scolaire
The DELF Junior/Scolaire is intended for high school students learning French and assesses students' language competency at four levels (A1, A2, B1, B2) which correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
