Who can access the exchange program?
The Student Exchange Program is dedicated to Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree enrolled students in a partner University with whom the University of Bucharest has a valid student exchange agreement.
The Exchange Students Program is not part of the Erasmus program.
What is the academic structure at the University of Bucharest?
The Romanian academic system consists in two semesters divided in:
Fall Semester (October - February)
Spring Semester (February - June)
What are the programs offered by the University of Bucharest?
The University of Bucharest offers to the exchange program students a range of programs thought in English.
We kindly invite you to consult the following list
1. Nomination by the partner University
The home university must nominate the students to the University of Bucharest by sending the nominations to the persons in charge as you can see here.
In order to nominate the desired students, we kindly ask our partner universities to fill the following nomination form.
For the Fall Semester or the full academic year the partner University must send the nomination until May 1st.
For the Spring Semester the partner University must send the nomination until November 1st.

2. Prepare your admission file
Read carefully the list where you can find all the mandatory documents needed in order to have a valid file.
Before you start the admission process check that your high school diploma is present in the list of recognised high school diplomas by the Ministry of Education in Romania.
All the documents submitted through the platform should be renamed according to the following pattern: Type of document. Surname
example: Highschool Diploma.[your surname]
3. Apply on the admission platform
Using the admission button, you can access the dedicated platform where you must submit all the required documents and fill all the mandatory information in order to generate your admission file.
Admission deadline:
July 1st, 2025 (for fall semester)
November 20th, 2025 (for spring semester)
The omission on the admission platform of any of the above mentioned documents will invalidate your submitted file!
4. Wait for the Letter of Acceptance
Once you have successfully sent your documentation, you have to wait for the issuing of the letter of acceptance by the Ministry of Education.
Be aware that the process can take a minimum of 30 working days. As soon as the Ministry of Education will issue the letter, you will receive a confirmation email from the University of Bucharest.
Please verify if you are part of one of the countries that does NOT require a study visa!
You have to apply for the study visa at the Romanian Embassy in your country or at the nearest Romanian diplomatic mission.
The University of Bucharest is NOT involved in the process of obtaining the study visa.

Do not leave original documents at the embassy, only copies, as you will need them at the enrollment. Without original documents, enrollment is not possible!
6. Book an enrollment appointment
After obtaining the Letter of Acceptance and the study visa issued by the Romanian Embassy, you must book an appointment for the enrollment using the following calendars.
If you enroll for the Romanian Language program please book the appointment for Preparatory Year.
Make sure the calendar is on the Eastern European Time-Bucharest (GMT +02:00).
7. Enroll at the International Office and Sign the study contract
You can now come to our office for the enrollment (90, Panduri Road, 4th floor, room 404, Bucharest, Romania).
The candidate must be present in person for the enrollment!
Make sure you come at the appointment only after you book it in advance and with all the original documents uploaded on the admission platform plus:
a. Passport with student visa;
b. 4 photos ¾ cm;
! Please note that the enrollment will take place ONLY if you submit at the office the originals for all the documents.
8. Accomodation
The University of Bucharest can provide accommodation for exchange students upon request and according to our availability.
The accommodation fee is approximately 60 EUR/month.
In order to obtain the accommodation you must submit the following request (attached HERE) by email taking into consideration the following dates:
Fall Semester (October – February): August 1st - September 20th
Spring Semester (February – June): October 1st - December 15th
