Málaga is a well connected city. It is easy to get to nearby towns and cities in this region of Spain by train or bus. Nearby cities accessible by bus that we recommend visiting including the following:
Granada - Granada has an unmistakably Moorish flavour, as it was the last city to be reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. Its gastronomy, craftwork and urban landscape are shaped by its glorious historical past.
Córdoba - Córdoba, capital of Muslim Spain, is the main city in a territory located in the centre of Andalusia. The Guadalquivirriver, at its wider middle course, crosses this province from east to west and provides irrigation for a wide plain where cereals, grapevines and olive trees grow.
Sevilla - Seville, capital of Andalusia, Roman, Arabic, Renaissance, Baroque, Latin American, Marian, flamenco, bull-fighting, modern, festive, bright, perfumed, sea-faring, traditional, hospitable, gracious, cosmopolitan, religious... All of these adjectives, and many more can be applied to this city, which not only typifies all that is "Spanish" and "Andalusian", but also contains such innumerous artistic, cultural, leisure, social and tourist attractions, that is has also become one of the most universal, best-known and most-visited cities in the world, birthplace and inspiration of writers, painters and artists in general.
It is also possible to get to other major cities in Spain by train or by budget airlines (Vueling, Ryanair, EasyJet, etc.). Major cities in Spain that many often visit include; Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands (Menorca, Mallorca, and Ibiza).
Málaga is also a good jumping off point to get to cities throughout Spain. The best way to get there, whether it be train or flight, depends on the city.
Barcelona - Barcelona is a big city which has everything you can imagine. Different cultures, places to visit and a beach to enjoy. You can get there by train, flight or bus, but we recommend the train to see all the landscapes from Málaga by the window.
Madrid - As Spain's capital, Madrid is located at the heart of the country. This metropolitan city offers a different vibe than Barcelona. For getting to Madrid you can take a bus, a high speed train, or a flight. The prices can very and at time be quite steep, so it's important to look at all of your options.
Balearic Islands - The Balearic islands are located just off the coast of Catalonia and include Ibiza, Menorca, and Mallorca. Although Ibiza already has a well known reputation, Menorca and Mallorca offer virgin beaches, a warm climate, and a nice place to get away. You can get to these islands on one of the budget airlines.
Traveling Around Europe
As a major city, Málaga is well connected to the rest of Europe. You can travel to all major European cities using budgets airlines (Vueling, Ryanair, EasyJet, etc.) and it is quite affordable. Remember to always exercise caution when traveling in foreign cities.
