Information for dementia care providers

With increasing evidence for the efficacy of cognitive rehabilitation (CR), and endorsement of this approach in the UK and beyond, dementia care services should now increase their capacity to offer cognitive rehabilitation to people with dementia

As part of the GREAT iP project we developed an intervention protocol, a set of educational resources, and an implementation strategy for organisations wishing to develop their dementia care provision. These resources are now available for organisations to use.

  • There is a range of materials and videos for professionals and service users, including an animation that conveys the key points in an accessible and engaging way.

  • Practitioners can learn how to provide GREAT CR from a free e-learning package available through the NHS Learning Hub. The course teaches the skills required to start offering GREAT CR to people with dementia and gives access to a range of guides and recording sheets.

  • Implementation guide and a planning tool is available for the organisations to support the process
