Skills & Work Values

Work values are things about work in general that are important to me. When I consider careers, I'll think about my entire life and how work will fit within my future plans for myself.

My definition of success:

For me, success isn't really career-orientated. I think that working will get me closer to success, but I really see success as a point in my life where I am proud of where I am now and feel like I have made a positive impact. I want to utilize my creativity and desire to help others to make that positive impact.

Work Values

The work values that I would like to prioritize in future careers would be creativity, variety, helping others, and independence. I want to be able to balance my need to create and my desire for freedom with the care I have for others. In the future, I hope that I won't have to compromise one of these values.

Life Values

My life values include having an exciting life. I really don't want to be held back by things I don't value like materialistic ideas of success. I also value my freedom and friendship. I want to be able to make career and life decisions and change career paths whenever I need to and I want to continue to make connections with people and keep the people I hold most dear.

Skills: As I consider my future plans, I'll keep working on my skills. The skills I most enjoy gaining will help me to know the types of work that I might feel satified in. I have grown so much in the last few years and know that I'll keep improving on all of my skills in the future.

Some hard skills I have include:

Sewing
Cooking/baking
Horticulture/agriculture
Drawing/painting
Eye for design
Clay (handbuilding)
Operate machinery like skid-steers and tractors

Goals:

Some goals that I have to expand my hard skills would be that I want to take some First Aid training and do some Rescue courses to expand on the hard skill of emergency medical care. I am looking at becoming an EMT right out of high school and I think that starting early on training will make it easier to get a job.

Some soft skills I have include:

Detail-oriented
Communication
Conflict resolution
Team-building
Empathetic
Reliability

Goals:

I'll keep working on communication. I'll find new tools to help me stay on top of email for school.

I also want to grow in prioritization. Some ways that I was thinking of expanding on this skill would be to organize and schedule events and tasks to better prioritize important things.
