Where He Is Now

We are happy to say that as of July 2nd, 2021, Britton is seizure-free. So far, the surgeries have worked. He will likely never be "out of the dark" as far as seizures are concerned: his remaining hemisphere still has seizure-like activity, but so far his monthly medicines seem to be working. This is something we will monitor and pray about forever.

Therapy: Lots and lots of it!

Britton's surgeries left him with significant paralysis on the right side of his body. Disconnecting Britton's left hemisphere essentially meant that we "unplugged" it. His left hemisphere no longer functions at all. This means that his right hemisphere controls every aspect of what he does. All movement, all thoughts, speech, everything. All from ONE hemisphere. This is reason #2231234 that we find him amazing!

This means that to regain that strength and coordination, Britton has had to go through years and countless hours of physical, occupational and speech therapies. Right now, it seems that this will be a constant in his life. We are okay with that since he is growing and improving so much every week. To us, he seems unstoppable.
