Taco Bell started out small with one restaurant, but today Taco Bell has 7,000 locations and more than 350 franchises worldwide. The first franchise opened in 1964 and by 1967 the company became public. This led to a total of 325 restaurants. When Pepsi made it's 125 million dollar purchase in 1978, Taco Bell became nationally famous.
