Background

The first Taco Bell was founded in 1962 by Glen Bell. It was in Downey, California. Glen Bell was active with food before he created the first Taco Bell. Before Taco Bell, in 1954 in San Bernardino, he made Bell's Drive-In and Taco Tia. When he opened the first Taco Bell he served "Tay-Kohs" (as his customers would say). Later on, a retired policeman, Kermit Becky, opened the first franchisee in 1964, in Torrance, California. By 1967 Taco Bell had 100 restaurants open. In 1978, Glen Bell sold 868 Taco Bells to PepsiCo Inc. and became a PepsiCo shareholder. Later on in 1997, a new owner, separated from PepsiCo. In 2010, a new and fresh Taco Bell website launched. Lastly in 2014, the Taco Bell Mobile Ordering and Paying App launched.
