Shahala Families,
Please take a look below to learn about updates and important events in the coming weeks.
Parents and guardians of 8th grade students are cordially invited to attend the 8th grade Shahala Middle School Promotion on Thursday, June 18th, at Shahala Middle School from 10:40-11:30 am in the large gym. The celebration will be a ceremony complete with music, certificates, speeches, and a sweet treat for students. Please join us for a promotion ceremony for your Shahala Middle School 8th Grader. As they close their middle school chapter, we want to celebrate and honor their hard work and accomplishments. We also want to cheer them on into their next chapter of high school!
On Thursday, June 18th, we will be celebrating with our 8th grade students from 1:30 PM to 4:05 PM at Shahala Middle School. This farewell event is for 8th grade Shahala students only and the cost is $20.00. Each $20.00 ticket includes a trip to the Kona Ice Truck, a special dessert, unlimited activities and games with prizes, and a photo booth & free pictures. Students will also have a BBQ lunch option, and we will have a special motivational guest speaker. Shahala student behavior expectations apply at this event.
Permission slips for this event went home with students a few weeks ago. You can also find the link to the printable permission slip HERE or fill out the Parent Square electronic version HERE.
We are also looking for some donations and volunteers for this event. Check out the Shahala PTO website to sign up for donations. To volunteer, you can sign up via the permission slip or contact Ellery at Ellery.Buckinghamseymour@evergreenps.org.
Our lost and found is overflowing again! If your student is missing anything, please have them check the Lost & Found, located by the “self service” table at the school entrance. Jackets, sweatshirts/sweaters, lunch bags, shoes and water bottles are kept out on display in the main hall while more fragile items and those of greater value (phones, watches, glasses, etc.) are kept secure in the front office.
All students entering 7th grade in the state of Washington must receive their Tdap vaccination (tetanus booster). When your child receives their Tdap booster, please email your documentation to our school nurse at Pari.Tabari@evergreenps.org OR bring in a paper copy to Shahala's front office. If your child is exempt from receiving this vaccine, please send us your exemption form.
Any child 10 years and older can get their Tdap booster. It is a requirement before entering 7th grade. If you are unsure that your student has received this vaccine, please check with your healthcare provider or check your MyChart account.
Where can you get vaccinations? Check with your healthcare provider, local pharmacy, or SeaMar clinic. Please click HERE to see the recommended vaccine schedule.
