Get Involved

Patriot Theatre prides itself on producing quality theatre with young adults. The skills learned while involved with play production translate directly to the job market: flexibility, creativity, time management, teamwork, communication skills, and confidence. But we can't do it alone. Producing a full length play costs between $2000-$3000 for set-building supplies, props, costumes, lighting and sound. Patriot Theatre depends on ads, donations, and ticket sales for 100% of our operating budget, since we receive no monetary support from school or district funds.

You can help keep the arts alive in our schools!

There are many ways to get involved with Patriot Theatre. Here are just a few:

Donations

Giving is one of the most significant demonstrations of commitment to the community that an individual can make. If you would like to have direct involvement in the cultural enrichment of our community theatre for generations to come, please consider giving.

Here are a few ways you can give:

1) Advertisements

Our community businesses bring a very important service to the Escondido community, especially to our parents and patrons. We feel that we can help bring more business to you by publicizing your business in our programs. We can get your name out to all our audience members. Our audience is your audience.

We students do everything for our theatre productions. We build sets, make costumes, act, design and run lights and sound, as well as create programs. Putting on a play can get pretty expensive. We have to pay for wood for the set, programs, lighting and sound equipment, and fabric for costumes. We do all this without any support from the school board or administration. We have to raise the money ourselves, and your support will greatly help us.

If you place an advertisement in this year’s programs, your ad will go in each of our programs all season. That’s a total of 5 different productions, 13 performances. Therefore a possible 3,000 audience members may see your ad from now until April. You can choose either a full page, ½ page or business card ad in our program. That page space is then yours for the whole season.

2) Sponsorships

Being a Sponsor is another great way to get your name out to our audience. By donating through a sponsorship, you help support theatre, and in return, you get publicity from your name in the programs. As a sponsor, you choose to donate a certain amount to the theatre company, and we put you on our list of sponsors based on the amount you choose to donate. A sponsorship is really great if you know how much you want to donate. You name the price.

They are also really amazing publicity. Your business shows up on the list as a supporter of the arts. Just like that, you’re a benevolent and charitable member of the community. It’s an easy way to build up a great reputation in Escondido. And you can choose to donate any amount - even just $1!

3) Come to See a Show!

The most enjoyable way to support Patriot Theatre may also be the easiest - come to see a show! You can purchase tickets ahead of time by mailing in the Advance Ticket Order Form. Tickets will also be on sale at the cashier's office approximately two weeks before opening night. Although tickets are also available at the door (unless we sell out), pre-sale tickets are the best deal :)

2) Specific Production Gifts:

We are always looking for donations of specific items to keep our costs down. For example, we are always in need of white collared shirts, black pants, black socks, and black shoes for our Front of House Staff uniforms. Cast and crew members need water and snacks donated to keep our energy up during long technical rehearsals. We can always put tools and lumber to use, as well as unique costume pieces, hats, and accessories. If you have something you would like to donate to a good cause, just give us a call.

Volunteering Opportunities

We always need help in the following categories:

Set building and painting

Volunteers are needed to help construct sets under the direction of the Technical Director. Prior building skills are appreciated, but not necessary. Some tools are available for those who don’t have their own.

Costume assistance

Costume volunteers work with the Costume Designer building new and altering existing costumes. Help may be needed in the form of sewing, distressing or dyeing fabric, fitting or finishing, or decorating hats and shoes.

Ushering and Box Office assistance

A crew of six to eight ushers/ticket takers is coordinated by the House Manager for each performance. Ushers come to the Theatre an hour before the show and show people to their seats. They are asked to wear a white collared shirt black pants, black socks, and black shoes. No previous experience is necessary, however these volunteers should enjoy working with and greeting the public.

Additional Volunteer Positions

Many other volunteer positions are available, including running errands, concession sales, special event support, and audition assistance. Please contact us!
