Workshop Questionnaire

All participants to the workshop will be asked to fill in the Building Classification Tool and workshop questionnaire (provided below) for their country of expertise. As the results of this exercise are received, they will be made available on the spreadsheets at the bottom of this page.

Instructions

STEP 1. Please sign in to the OpenQuake platform (provided below) using your login credentials.

STEP 2. Using the Building Classification Survey, please produce a description of the RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL and INDUSTRIAL building types that are predominantly found in your country, as well as a QUALITATIVE or QUANTITATIVE estimate of their distribution in URBAN and RURAL areas.

The building types should be described using (at least) the following attributes:

- Main material category (i.e. masonry, concrete, steel, composite, timber) and type of material

- Lateral load-resisting system

- Height class

- Ductility class

Please note that you can choose 'unknown' for any of the options in the survey in order to move to the next attribute, and ensure all of the above properties are covered.

For example, the description for the thee buildings shown in the following images below might be:

RESIDENTIAL: Concrete | Reinforced | Infilled frame | Low rise (<3 floors) | Non ductile (PGA<0.1g) | Cast in place

INDUSTRIAL: Concrete | Reinforced | Post and beam | Low rise (<3 floors) | Non ductile (PGA<0.1g) | Pre-cast

COMMERCIAL: Concrete | Reinforced | Flat Slab | High-rise (7-12 floors) | Moderate ductility (0.1g<PGA<0.3g)

STEP 3. Fill out the SERA Building Exposure Questionnaire (provided below)
