Welcome to the website of the SERA Building Exposure Workshop which will take place from 1st to 2nd March 2018 in Pavia, Italy.
As part of the Horizon 2020-funded project SERA, the Eucentre is organising and hosting a European Building Exposure Workshop as input to the joint research activity 'Risk modelling framework for Europe'.
The SERA project is collaborating closely with the Global Earthquake Model (GEM), a global collaborative effort that brings together state-of-the-art science, national, regional and international organisations and individuals for the establishment of uniform and open standards for calculating and communicating earthquake risk worldwide. GEM aims to develop a global risk model by the end of 2018, and this workshop will play a key role in contributing to the European component of this model.
One of the main aims of this workshop will be to review some initial exposure models (and their underlying assumptions) for a number of countries in Europe. We aim to bring together experts that have knowledge on the residential, commercial and industrial buildings within European countries, or have developed country-wide building inventories for public or private seismic risk applications. We will also be sharing a building exposure questionnaire to all participants to be completed before the workshop, such that the results can be reviewed and discussed during the workshop. The results of the questionnaires, the presentations delivered and the outcomes of the workshop will subsequently be shared on this website.
