Now that Exhibitions have come to a close, it is time to reflect on the experience. You will use the remaining days in the semester to reflect. The reflection can be found on Google Classroom.
While written reflections are happening, I will be pulling you individually to conference and reflect.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Only 3 school days (including today) until Exhibitions start!
Draft of creation due LAST WEEK, MAY 11TH
There is an Exhibition Outline assignment on Google Classroom, to help you prepare if you need it.
If you need to request off of work, do it sooner rather than later
Do Now: Think, Pair, Share
After experiencing dress rehearsals yesterday, what is one thing you need to do to be better prepared for exhibitions
Do Next: Goal Setting
Identify a task that you need to complete today! This might be creating slides or a script, reaching out to collaborators, completing the Exhibition Outline, etc. Additionally, if you have not yet turned in a draft of your creation on the Google Classroom, that is your first priority.
Even Further: Whip Around
Share out what you're going to be working on! Is there anyone specific you need to work with to accomplish that goal? What specifically will you accomplish? For example, if you are painting, what specific items/parts are you planning to paint?
I will record these goals on the whiteboard.
STUDIO TIME
You have the remainder of the class period to work towards accomplishing your goals. During this time, the expectation is that:
The room is silent, unless you are receiving help from a peer.
You may listen to music, you must use headphones. Please choose a playlist/album, and then let it run while you work. If your music becomes too much of a distraction, it will be taken away.
To that end, phones and other personal technology are to be off and away.
If you need help, ask a peer if they can assist.

Did you accomplish your goal for the class period? Why or why not?
Do Now: Open your “OK GO Professional Model Deep Dive" document from yesterday.
Do Next:
Using Yesterday’s Professional Model, let’s come up with a timeline for the creation of the artifact. We’ll work backwards, starting with the final product.
What was the last step necessary? What did they have to do in order to make this creation get to us?
What was the second-to-last step? What had to happen before that? And before that? Etc.
How do you think this creation began? How long do you think each of the steps of the process took?
Studio Time:
Create a timeline for your own project!
There is a document on the Google Classroom that you can use to structure this, or you may create your own document in a format that works for you. Begin in the same way we did: What is the last step necessary? and work backwards from that.
Once you have finished listing those tasks, estimate how long each will take. Do you need to revise your creation goal? Or do you need to put in work outside of class to meet it? Think deeply on this, so that you are prepared for tomorrow's discussion.
Ticket Out:
What is the last step of your project?
Do Now:
Go to the Google Classroom and find the assignment “OK GO Professional Model Deep Dive" Open the document.
Together we will review the prompt for parts, before we continue the activity.
Do Next: Parts, Purposes, Complexity
Today we will be viewing a professional model.
In your document write what parts you see/hear that are in the creation. BE DETAILED, and focus only on the PARTS that you see/hear.
Analyze OK GO’s “The One Moment”
Video: For cinematography
Music Construction of song/recording
Movement: Physical Movement in space
Engineering: Working machines/set pieces
Go Around:
Parts: As a group we will go around the room and each individual will share out a Part they noticed in the video. By doing this, we will assemble a list of the parts and pieces of the creation, based on the categories above. Keep track of any Parts mentioned by others that you did not include in your list. After the go around, if there are other Parts you noticed and want added to the list, raise a hand to share them out.
Purposes: Going down the list of parts that we generated, we will consider their Purposes. Why does it need to be included? What function does it serve as part of the larger whole?
Complexities: How is it complicated in its parts and purposes, or in the relationship between the parts and purposes?
If there is extra time, use the document on Google Classroom to begin brainstorming a list of steps that the artists had to take in order to complete this project. We will go over this in more detail tomorrow.

What is your topic?
Why does this matter, to you and us?
What do you already know about it? (pro models or research)
How would you turn this into a creation?
Audience thumb vote:
Thumbs up = Green Light: I would invest.
Thumb side = maybe, but I need more…
Thumb Down = doesn’t sound ready to green light yet.

What are your next steps for tomorrow? Remember, proposals are due.
LEARNING GOAL: Practice divergent thinking and collaborative discussion.
DO NOW: Word Association | Go Around
Your PBlock teacher will start with one word.
As students enter, everyone will do a one-word association based on the word built off of the initial word. Capture these words on the whiteboard to show progression.
PLAY: Codenames
Divide the class into two teams: Red and Blue.
Create a room. Play with the recommended settings.
A 5x5 grid of word cards will appear.
The teacher, or a chosen “spymaster” for each team has a key revealing 8-9 target words for each team, plus one black “death” word.
The spymaster will give a clue to their team to try getting them to guess as many target words as possible. The clue is given in the form of “WORD | NUMBER.” The word is a clue, and the number indicates how many words it relates to.
Teams take turns. A turn ends when the team chooses to stop guessing, or when they guess incorrectly.
The game ends if any team accidentally guesses the death word, or when one team correctly guesses all of their target words.
TIP: It’s simple to draw a 1:1 connection. It’s only slightly harder to connect two target words with one clue word. To excel at the game, expert spymasters find clues that will connect with 3+ target words, and will take risks.
STUDIO TIME: If there is any time remaining, use it to continue working on your proposal.
TICKET OUT: What do you think was the most clever clue word connection?
Do Now: Preliminary Research Goal Setting
What is one question that you want to answer regarding your topic? What do you want to know?
Driving Question: Your project isn’t just about “making something.” Your project should make something that answers a question. This question then drives the work of your project.
Q: Why do innocent people confess to crimes they didn’t commit?
Q: Why are humans dependent on entertainment?
Q: How can I convince peers that bees are an important part of their life?
Q: What impact does an environmental disaster have on the economy of a community?
Which of the above examples is the most interesting to you? Why?
Studio Time: Proposal
Use the Driving Question Generator or Question Starts to develop the research portion of your proposal.
Ticket Out: Demonstrate / Share connections you are making to professionals academically or creatively.
Do Now: Goal Setting
At the end of the hour, everyone will share the PRELIMINARY RESEARCH section or the PROFESSIONAL MODEL section of their proposals.
TODAY’S GOAL = Find professionals that support your thinking / claims / ideas / etc.
What do you need to do today in order to be ready for the Ticket Out?
Studio Time: Proposal
Continue brainstorming or working on your proposal.
Ticket Out: Demonstrate / Share connections you are making to professionals academically or creatively.
Options:
Show a short snippet of video.
Read and share research facts.
Connect brainstorming to articles or inspirations for the final end product
DO NOW
From your brainstorming, select 2 ideas (or two topics) that you think are workable.
THIS OR THAT
Everyone is going to share 2 project ideas. After each student presents, the audience will vote on which one should be pursued.
NOTE: You are not required to honor the vote, but it’s good feedback about what your audience is interested in.
STUDIO TIME
Continue brainstorming or working on your proposal.
STUDIO TIME
Continue brainstorming or working on your proposal.
If you need help, ask a peer for feedback, and then raise a hand and I'll come to you.
TICKET OUT: What was the most interesting idea you heard from a peer?
DO NOW
What is a skill that you are proficient in?
In 5 minutes, create a product that demonstrates your proficiency.
(Example: Mike can write a script at the drop of a hat.)
MICRO EXHIBITIONS: Share!
What is your skill? How will you show it?
(1 minute or less)
MIND MAP
Add your skills to the mind map. Connect them to Topics that might go well with your skills!

TICKET OUT: What do you think is your best idea right now?
LEARNING GOAL: Use divergent thinking to expand upon initial ideas.
DO NOW: What ideas came to you overnight?
Add at least one new pink sticky note idea onto the board.
WORD CONNECTIONS:
Have the students suggest two random, unconnected words. Write those words on a whiteboard with four blanks in between. Students do the same on paper.
Ex: FILE ____ ____ ____ ____ HELP
Students fill in the blanks on their paper by chaining related words from one end to the other.
Ex: FILE NAILS HAMMER TOOLS USEFUL HELP
Students share out word-chains that they are particularly proud of.
Students then repeat the process with three blanks. Then two blanks. Then one blank. No repeating words
MIND MAPS: Pull a sticky note from the whiteboard and use a private comment to add it to your Beane Protocol assignment.
ASSIGNMENT: Proposal in Google Classroom.
Draft due by February 3rd. Final due by February 10th.
