2012 - State Senator Dennis Jones
Dr. Dennis Jones represented the Seminole community in both the Florida State and the Florida House of Representatives.
Dr. Dennis L. Jones was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1978 and served until 2000. In 2002 he was elected to the Florida Senate and served until 2012. During his Legislative tenure, his District office was located in Seminole, Florida.
Senator Jones secured state funds for street lights on Bay Pines Boulevard for pedestrian safety as well as $40,000 to purchase land for the creation of a park at Blossom Lake Village south of Orange Lake Elementary School in Seminole in 1988.
Senator Jones was instrumental in securing state funds for the joint-use library building on the St. Petersburg College, Seminole Campus in 2003. The library was later named the Dennis L Jjones Seminole Community Library in recognition of his service to the College and the City of Seminole.
While serving as Vice President of Economic Development and Innovative programs at SPC he helped develop the Institute of Strategic Policy Solutions on the Seminole Campus.
