The Mr. & Ms. Seminole award, is based on long-term and significant contributions to Seminole proper.
It is awarded to individuals whose contributions to this community sets them apart from the things most people do in their every day life.
The first Mr. Seminole award was presented on March 5, 1966 to Jesse Wilder Johnson. The award pre-dates the formation of the city, which was founded a few years later, in 1970, with Johnson’s help.
Candidates must work or reside in the greater Seminole area, and make an impact on the Seminole community.
It’s not a popularity thing and it’s not about somebody giving a lot of money for something, most of the recipients have done a lot of volunteer work.
