Travel Support

Travel support for students and postdoctoral researchers

Thanks to a generous donation from The European Association of Geochemistry (EAG) and The Meteoritical Society, we will be able to reduce the travel cost for a number of students and some postdoctoral reseachers attending DINGUE VIII. Details are provided below on eligibility criteria for both travel grants.

We encourage every student to apply in order to maximize travel support.

Form to apply: please click here (same form for the two grants)

Deadline for application: May 19.

EAG Conference Sponsorship program

The EAG, through the Conference Sponsorship program, is generously supporting student attendance at DINGUE VIII. Students will be selected based on obvious financial need, considering travel distance or origin (e.g. from countries with developing or emerging economies).

Sponsored students may be requested to produce a one-page report on their experience. Some of those reports will be published on the EAG Blog.

Meteoritical Society Endowment Fund travel grant for planetary scientists

The Meteoritical Society Endowment fund is generously supporting a travel grant for early career planetary scientists with priority given to researchers from economically disadvantaged countries to attend DINGUE VIII, July 19-22, 2023, at Monte Verità, Ascona.

Selection criteria in order of precedence:

1.     Applicants residing and conducting their research in countries and territories on the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list of countries and territories eligible to receive official development assistance (https://www.oecd.org/dac/financing-sustainable-development/development-finance-standards/daclist.htm) are given highest priority.

2.     All applications will be evaluated based on demonstrated need. Second priority will be given to those who would not be able to attend the meeting without the travel award and have not attended another international scientific meeting in the last 12 months.

3.     Third priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need but have attended another international scientific meeting in the last 12 months.

To qualify for this grant the applicant should:

1.     Be conducting research within planetary science, preferably studying meteorites and other extraterrestrial materials that further our understanding of the origin and history of the solar system.

2.     Present their work at DINGUE VIII if the travel grant is awarded.

3.     Be either a student, undergraduate or graduate, or a postdoctoral researcher who defended their PhD thesis no more than 3 years before the travel grant application deadline.

4.     Demonstrate financial need.

5.     Provide a budget for how the travel award would be used (directly on the application form above).
