During AM Support time (8:00am - 8:30am), students can make up lost physical activity points or receive additional instruction on cognitive assignments. Teachers will post their AM Support locations in both Google Classroom as well as the PE location monitors.
Students must be dressed in appropriate athletic attire, with their HR monitor strap, to receive make-up points.
Students will receive physical activity points based on their effective effort and time recorded in the target heart rate zone. PE teacher will provide the specific rubric.
Students may rent a HR strap from the PE teacher or Equipment Room.
Teacher will determine the appropriate make-up physical activity for each student depending on the missed lesson.
The purpose of the PE Resource Center is to continue to educate students in physical fitness and wellness concepts when they are unable to participate in physical activity due to being unprepared for class or have proper medical exemption documentation. Students attending the PERC should follow protocols below.
PERC is located in W133 and is available during blocks 1-8.
All students MUST have a pass from their PE teacher to enter PERC. Students will not be allowed entry without a pass.
Students who are assigned to PERC but do not attend, will receive an absence in their PE class.
Students are expected to stay in PERC for the entire period. No passes to other classes will be distributed. However, per teacher’s request, students may be expected to attend the cognitive lessons within their PE class.
Students in PERC will always have a PE assignment to complete; PERC is not a study hall for other classes. The student must complete the assigned academic work by the due date provided by teacher.
Completed work will be electronically submitted to the assigned PE teacher.
While in PERC, students are expected to complete the cognitive assignment. Failure to complete this work during the scheduled class period, can result in forfeiting their opportunity to make up the missed physical activity points in AM Support
Students can only make up unearned physical activity points with alternate physical activity opportunities (see PASS/AM SUPPORT below); unless medically excused.
When unprepared for class, students receive a zero for all physical activity points. Students are, however, still required to complete the cognitive assignment with effective effort.
Medically released students:
Students on a medical exemption are expected to attend class when requested by their teacher. All PE students are responsible for written and classroom assignments in PE, even if they are excused from physical activity. The assigned PE teacher will communicate required assignments and inform students when they are expected to attend class.
Those on a long term medical exemption (more than 3 weeks) will be given an alternative PE assignment provided by their PE teacher.
Students who attend PERC, due to medical reasons, are responsible for communicating and following up with their PE teacher during the duration of their medical release. This includes confirming dates of release and return, along with clarification of daily cognitive assignments and due dates.
Students are responsible to report back to PE class at the end of their medical exemption and will be marked absent if they do not attend.
The purpose of PASS is to give equitable opportunity to students during regular school hours to engage in make-up physical activity after they have been absent from a regularly scheduled physical activity class.
The PASS is located in room G158 and students have the opportunity to make up lost physical activity points during blocks 1-8.
Students may attend the PASS during an unscheduled instructional period (lunch, study hall, free period).
Upon arrival to PASS, students must scan in with their student ID.
All students must bring a Heart Rate Monitor strap and arrive dressed in appropriate exercise clothing including proper footwear. Students may rent a HR strap from the PASS supervisor or Equipment Room.
Students will receive physical activity points based on their effective effort and time recorded in the target heart rate zone. PE teacher will provide the specific rubric.
Students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of self-directed workout programs made available by PASS supervisor.
Based on the student’s effective effort and time recorded in the target heart rate zone, a student can earn up to 10 missed physical activity points while attending the PASS.

Students are not allowed to make up PE points both sessions.
If a student attends session one and decides to make up PE points, they may still attend session two. However, they will not be allowed to make up PE points during the second session.
