Ilinois State Law and ETHS Requirements
Students must have passing grades in at least 8 courses during the previous 2 semesters.
Students must be at least 15.3 years of age on the first day of class.
Students must successfully complete and pass the “Rules of the Road” driving examination administered during the first week of class.
Students must successfully complete and pass the vision examination administered during the first week of class.
Students must complete the state-mandated requirements of course work and practical driving instruction. Therefore, any number of absences and/or tardies will jeopardize passing the course and obtaining a driving permit.
This course is an integrated, two-phase Driver’s Education program that includes practice and instruction in the classroom and behind the wheel lessons. Students will demonstrate knowledge of state driving laws along with safe, responsible driving skills in various driving environments. All students must complete the entire semester course of Driver's Ed. Therefore, senior students should only be enrolled in the first semester Driver's Ed course. Students must meet the Illinois Secretary of State Driver Education requirements of 30 Classroom hours and 6 Behind-the-Wheel training hours. There is a required course fee of $200 and a required $20 permit fee payable to IL Secretary of State. Driver’s Education is offered as an elective class during the school day and during summer school. Driver’s Education is a graded elective; pass/fail is not an option. Refer to the Summer School Handbook or contact the Summer School office for summer Driver’s Education information.
Students must complete EACH step in the process to be considered for Drivers Education. This is a one time process so no need to repeat. Please remember, a submitted application does not guarantee a seat in the class.

Click on the 'Drivers Education' tab. Read the instructions carefully.
Click the 'Submit Application' button at the bottom of the screen (your application will not be complete without this step).
After submitting application, make and appointment with your counselor to register for the class.
Completing this process does not guarantee placement in the course.
SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Registration process is the same as enrolling in any other summer school class. Please contact the summer school office 847 424-7950 for clarification.
