My name is Lisa Bytheway! I am so excited to be teaching 8th Grade math this year at AES!!
I began my teaching career as a high school math teacher at Nordhoff High School in Ojai, CA. I was there for 5 years, then moved to Nevada and taught 6th grade for 5 years, followed by reading specialist for 16 years. This is my 4th year with ESUSD. I have mostly been an interventionist in the areas of reading and math, but I have also taught 5th grade, 6th, and 7th grade math, PE and a semester of culinary.
I love teaching math because of all of the practical real-life applications that students can discover and use. I like teaching from a problem-based curriculum because I believe it is critical for students to be able to conceptualize and apply the principles they are studying. I am looking forward to learning how to best help your students achieve their highest potential now and forevermore.
Time spent with my two adult daughters and my dog are my most valuable moments!! I love to be outdoors on my bike, on skis, on the water, gardening, reading, enjoying the mountains, and living life each day to the fullest.
