Training Opportunities

Dipping Your Toes into Design Thinking & Diving Deeper into Gamification

November 15 & 16, 2023 @ ESU #3 (onsite only)

We’ll be starting with “Why” – looking into some of the fundamental research regarding positive psychology, 21st Century college and career-readiness, and the applied practice of classroom gamification, and then pushing deeper into the world of the student-centered classroom. The first day of training will lean heavily on the philosophy of game design and the applied psychology of what makes great games work, both inside of our classrooms and outside of them.

Participants will have the opportunity to role play as members of a sample class – using various EMC² resources in conjunction with stand-alone lessons aligned to sample content standards that would be regularly encountered in a classroom setting in order to gain hands-on practice of what learning looks like in a gamified instructional environment.

EMC² Learning is home to an online library of student engagement strategies, bite-sized PD tutorials, and fully editable classroom resources. EMC² resources come with a dynamic combination of self-paced instructional videos, step-by-step lesson walkthroughs, and modification suggestions on how each activity can be scaled and scaffolded for learners of any age.

Each year, TLT organizes training sessions to provide ESU staff across the state the opportunity to engage in collaborative professional learning.
