UnICORN Project

Understanding Inheritance in Corn (UnICORN)

The UnICORN elementary science curriculum, developed by UNL, is a 6-week 3rd-grade plant science unit that uses corn as a model organism for fostering student learning about core life science concepts of life cycles, traits, and inheritance. During the week of June 24th- 28th, UNL will hold a 1-week workshop for 3rd-grade teachers to learn to use the curriculum as part of their elementary science curriculum. Workshops will be held concurrently at ESU 5 and ESU 10. Participants will receive a $1000 stipend and may elect to complete the workshop for 3 hours of UNL graduate course credit.
