Meet your Senators

MYRON DORN - DISTRICT 30

Seated in the Nebraska Legislature in January, 2019, Senator Myron Dorn comes to the Unicameral with a background in local government, community service and agricultural production.

The past three years, Myron served as chairman of the Gage County Board, having been elected a member from 2010-2018. Myron also served on the Firth Coop and Dorchester Coop boards of directors.

An EMT, Myron has been a member of the Adams Rescue Squad since 1986, and has served on the council of the American Lutheran Church of Adams.

Myron is a native of Gage County, a graduate of Adams High School and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a B.Sc. degree in Animal Science. Along with his son Kyle, he is a farmer and livestock producer. Myron is a member of Nebraska Farm Bureau; Nebraska Farmers Union; Nebraska Cattlemen; Nebraska Soybean Association; and Nebraska Corn Growers Association.

Myron and his wife Julie are parents to Kyle and Erin. Julie is a medical technician. Kyle and his wife Andrea, who is a photographer, have a son and a daughter. Erin is a Physician’s Assistant at the Beatrice Community Hospital.

Senator Dorn has several goals for the upcoming legislative session. His top priorities are reducing property taxes and creating a funding solution for the federal judgement handed down to Gage County. With plans to introduce between six and ten bills of his own, Senator Dorn is also co-sponsoring bills with fellow state senators to address specific issues that affect residents of the district. Senator Dorn looks forward to communicating with the constituents of District 30. He encourages emails and calls to his office at any time - either staff, computers or answering machines are constantly on duty and replies can always be expected.

TOM BRANDT - DISTRICT 32

Tom Brandt is a livestock feeder from Plymouth who is serving as Senator for the 32nd district.

He is a graduate of Tri-County High School and earned a degree in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He is past chairman and a current member of the Southeast Nebraska Corn Growers, past chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party, served nine years on the Farmer’s Cooperative Dorchester board of directors, is a past member of the Farm Credit Services of America Advisory Council, past president and an active member of the Plymouth Improvement Association, and currently serves as congregation president of First Trinity Lutheran Church.

Tom is married to Sandra who works for Health and Humans Services as a Trust Officer, they have two grown children, Mariah a Captain in the Air Force recently returned from her second combat tour, and Evan who operates a custom farming business in addition to being a Plymouth Volunteer Firefighter.
