Third CLIMATE FINANCE WORKSHOP

 November 14th, 2023

REPLAY AVAILABLE BELOW (Excepted deborah shire's intervention)

Roadmap to Net Zero: Navigating the Path of Decarbonization

To stay within the safe boundary of a 1.5°C temperature rise above pre-industrial levels, it is necessary to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 at the latest.  This calls for nothing less than a complete transformation of how we produce, consume and invest. Within this grand transformation, the financial industry emerges as a key player, using its influence and resources to lead and accelerate the decarbonization efforts across various sectors. How can the financial industry contribute to help the economy achieve a sustainable, low-carbon future?

The workshop's objective is to facilitate discussions on several key topics on the roadmap to decarbonization, including the creation of global regulations and standards on the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions data, on the mechanisms to align investment portfolios with the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement, on establishing targets for achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and the significant role that real assets play in this endeavour. Lastly, we will discuss leveraging voting rights to support climate adaptations within publicly listed companies.
