To celebrate the Global BBA dissertations and the highly relevant work that BBA students are doing, a number of ESSEC’s Chairs open to Global BBA students are sponsoring a dissertation prize. Each Chair seeks to highlight BBA dissertations that are relevant to the Chair’s specific topic or industry.
The ESSEC Beauty Chair BBA dissertation prize is awarded to the best BBA dissertation on a beauty business-related topic, focusing on current challenges and opportunities in the industry such as sustainability, Diversity Equity Inclusion, big data, and new technologies. The prize aims to encourage students to investigate and contribute to the development of the beauty industry, and the criteria for the prize include relevance, quality, originality, and potential impact of the research. The Food Business Challenges Chair dissertation prize is awarded to the best BBA dissertation on business-related topics in the food industries - from the field to the fork. We seek to highlight dissertations that will tackle contemporary issues affecting the food value chains. The Information Strategy and Governance Chair will reward the best BBA dissertation that addresses the topic of data from a management perspective. We particularly want to highlight dissertations that try to answer the following questions: Data is an intangible business asset. How can we extract more value from it? The Innovation and Health Chair Global BBA dissertation prize is awarded to the best BBA dissertation on a health related topic. The Chair seeks to highlight dissertations which tackle current challenges in the health care sector, such as the diffusion and value of innovations or the design and sustainability of health care systems. The Chair of Leadership and Diversity Global BBA dissertation prize is awarded to the best BBA dissertation on a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) related topic. We particularly seek to encourage dissertations that tackle current Diversity and Inclusion challenges in society, in firms, and/or in different types of interactions and the impact of new technologies on opportunities to address DEI issues.
The Cultural Industries, Arts & Creative Tech Chair Global BBA dissertation prize is an honor that is bestowed upon the best global BBA dissertation focusing on the impact of emerging technologies on the media, entertainment, and content industries. In line with the mission of the ESSEC Media & Digital Chair, the award is given to participants that demonstrate critical thinking and creativity, while also furthering our understanding of contemporary managerial issues. The Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair Global BBA dissertation prize is awarded to the best dissertation dealing with the challenges of decarbonizing the construction and real estate sector. When and how do I apply for a Chair prize?
You can apply for one of the Chair prizes when you submit your final dissertation. You will be asked to submit your dissertation document as well as a letter explaining how your dissertation addresses the criteria set out for the prize by the respective Chair.
Do I have to be a student in the Chair to be eligible for a prize?
No, all students can apply if their dissertation fits the criteria of the respective Chair prize.
Does the prize depend on the grade I receive on my dissertation?
No, Chairs will independently review dissertations to select the recipient of the Chair prize.
Can I apply for more than one Chair prize?
No, please choose one Chair that most closely matches your dissertation.
My dissertation is in English/French but the Chair whose prize I want to apply for is in French/English. Is it a problem?
No, all Chairs are accepting dissertations that are either English or French.
Can I apply for a Chair award even if my dissertation has been nominated for a Global BBA Dissertation award by my advisor?
Yes, these are two independent processes, you can apply for a Chair prize irrespective of whether your advisor has nominated you for one of the Global BBA dissertation awards.
