Extended Day Learning Opportunities (EDLOs) are a required component of Spartan Academy. Throughout the school year students engage in academic supports, career exploration, professional preparation, and/or social emotional supports that are designed specifically for students in the program. These sessions focus on college and career readiness, goal setting, and academic preparedness.
EDLOs may come in the following form:
Off-site career exploration field trips to STEM-focused organizations (planned and organized in collaboration with our Community Based Organization partner, MACNY)
Professional panels made up of outside STEM-focused businesses and organizations brought in expose students to career opportunities and/or advise students on professional preparedness (i.e., resume development, mock interviews, etc.) (planned and organized in collaboration with our Community Based Organization partner, MACNY)
Academic support sessions
Other student-selected professional/career focused opportunities (i.e., job shadowing, volunteering, attending STEM camps, interning, etc.)
