ESK lower schoolers participate in a class-sponsored service project each year. Recurring projects include:
The Kindergarten works in conjunction with the LAMBS (Lovers of Animals Ministry and Bible Study) Pet Ministry from the Church of Ascension for their service project. They conduct a week long drive of collecting dry dog and cat food that they deliver to the FISH Pantry for Feeding Pets Warehouse. The food is given to visitors of the Pantry that are also in need of food for their pets.
First Grade collects used toys and books for the Holiday Bureau, a volunteer agency which prepares them to be given as Christmas gifts for underprivileged children in Anderson County.
Second Grade operates a School Supply store, and students tithe 10% of profits to a charitable cause of their choice. The class also sponsors Earth Day Free Dress, a fundraiser that sends proceeds to Friends of the Smokies.
Third grade sponsors a Thanksgiving Food Drive for FISH food pantry.
Fourth grade sponsors the Hams for the Hungry fundraiser. This initiative raises funds to provide Easter dinner for the less fortunate in Knoxville and East Tennessee. The fundraiser week features Wacky Hat contests and selling of Jazzy Jars filled with goodies. Proceeds go to the Love Kitchen and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Thousands of meals are provided each year during the Easter season because of this program.
