Colorguard stems from the military tradition of colour guard. The colour guard was a regiment of soldiers who carried and protected the regiments and nations flags during battle. Developing from that rich tradition, modern colorguard has evolved into a pageantry art of dance and theatrics set to music (usually with a marching band or drum and bugle corp) with choreography using flags, dance, and other props.
The W. S. Neal High School colorguard is an award winning program that marches and spins at halftime shows, parades, pep rallies, community performances, and competitions with the high school marching band. The colorguard typically places in the top percentage of all colorguards at every competition and has won numerous awards in doing so. The colorguard pushes for excellence in performance and execution and accomplishes this goal with their hard work and dedication.
