Band Programs

Our band programs consists of around 175 students involved in six different ensembles beginning in the 5th grade and finishing in the 12th grade. Each group places an emphasis on a different level of musical or performance experience. These groups include:

Beginner Band: 1st Year Musicians

Intermediate Band: 2nd - 3rd Year Musicians

Blue Eagle Marching Band: 8th Grade - 12th Grade Musicians (with exceptional 7th Grade by invitation). All members of this ensemble must participate in the Blue Eagle Concert Band. Percussion is decided by audition.

Blue Eagle Colorguard: Consists of 9th through 12th grade performers who spin with flags, props, and dance with the marching band in the fall.

Blue Eagle Majorettes: Consists of 9th through 12th grade performers who twirl with batons, props, and dance with the marching band in the fall.

Blue Eagle Concert Band: All 8th-12th Grade Musicians

Learning a band instrument teaches students valuable life lessons.

By joining band at W. S. Neal, students will:

-learn how to organize your time to achieve a goal.

-learn how to work as group toward common goal.

-learn how to be more personally responsible.

-learn how to think critically about themselves and their learning.

-learn how to analyze and react to what they see, hear, and feel.

-learn how to adapt quickly to changing situations during a performance.

-learn how to respond appropriately to failures and successes.

-learn the value and reward of focused, goal-oriented hard work

-be challenged, intellectually and personally.

-experience the joy and excitement of performing music.
