Module 1

4th April, 2022

Module 1 opened on April 4th, 2022 and our first working session took place on Wednesday, April 6th, 2022. There were some biscuits and tea, while we were browsing the first module, completing the first activities, going through the course timeline, the final task and peer reviews, as well as signing PHOTO / VIDEO / VOICE RECORDING / INTERVIEW Adult Permission Form.

Here are the highlights of this productive working session:

LifeComp Framework

To support educational actors develop the skills needed to thrive in such a context, the European Commission has developed the LifeComp Framework that focusses on “Personal, Social, and Learning to Learn” competences.

The LifeComp framework is a flexible tool that can be adapted to different learning settings and target groups to support the development of nine different competences. The image below illustrates, at a glance, the nine competences that makeup LifeComp:

What's your motivation to attend this course?

These are my colleagues' first MOOC contributions.

The expectations are high and hopefully they are met at the end of the course and within this Study Group!

Toward Self-Regulated Learning: What is it and why focus on it?

After reflecting about managing our own learning, let's explore this competence in more detail. Its three descriptors are:

  • Awareness of one's own learning interests, processes and preferred strategies, including learning needs and required support;

  • Planning and implementing learning goals, strategies, resources and processes;

  • Reflecting on and assessing purposes, processes and outcomes of learning and knowledge construction, establishing relationships across domains.

From here we discussed how Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) may benefit teachers and students, and quickly addressed the Self-Regulated phases.

The three phases of SRL, as defined by the conceptual model of SRL by Barry Zimmerman (2008).

Before the end of our first Study Group session, the course timeline was discussed and the Photo / Video / Recording / Interview Adult Permission Form was signed by each colleague.

Before the end of week / module 1, I created a google classroom to make communication and interaction faster and easier.

In this first post, I reinforce the idea of creating a Learning Diary and ask for their feedback in two different AnswerGardens:
