Life Competences 1 – Shaping Lifelong Learners through Self-Regulated Learning

Prep work

To set up a school-based study group to improve teacher learning on MOOCs, I took the following steps:

  1. Creation of an info poster with the MOOC details:

Info Poster - Page 1

2. An invite followed, sent to a restricted group of colleagues. The invite email also had a doodle for them to choose the most suitable time so that I could have the chance to meet them face to face and share the MOOC details:

3. Final step: meeting some colleagues face to face to clarify any questions that may arise.

Individual approach

The Study Group was finally complete with 5 colleagues: 3 from the Language Department, 1 Physics / Chemistry teacher and 1 SEN teacher. As diverse as possible, the first step was to proceed with the EU-Login creation, registration and platform exploration.

The MOOC "choice" fell on the one we could all attend together and or online, since I had to juggle it in between ERASMUS+ mobilities:

According to the School Education Gateway course providers, "This course is the first of a series of courses where we explore the different areas of the Life Competences framework. This first course focuses on the area of ‘Learning to Learn’ of the LifeComp Framework. It is divided into four different modules, focusing on self-regulated learning (SRL), development of SRL skills, teaching practices, and examples teachers can benefit from."
