Other Health Impairment
To meet the requirements of an Other Health Impairment eligibility, an individual must meet two criteria. One is having a medical diagnosis of a chronic condition documented by a pediatrician or nurse practitioner. A diagnosis from a psychologist or psychiatrist does not meet the Texas eligibility criteria. Secondly, the condition must limit the individual's strength, vitality or alertness such that it impacts their ability to access the educational environment.
