Other Health Impairment (OHI)

To qualify for Other Health Impairment eligibility, an individual must meet two criteria.  One has a medical diagnosis of a chronic condition documented by a pediatrician or nurse practitioner.  A diagnosis from a psychologist or psychiatrist does not meet the Texas eligibility criteria.  Secondly, the condition must limit the individual's strength, vitality, or alertness to the extent that it affects their ability to access the educational environment.
