tea.texas.gov/academics/instructional-materials/review-and-adoption-process/proclamation-2021 This is a TEA link that will take you to prekindergarten curriculum sample materials that can now be viewed digitally.
The SBOE issued Proclamation 2021 at its June 2019 meeting to call for English and Spanish prekindergarten systems. The adoption of materials under Proclamation 2021 is scheduled to occur in November 2020. The adopted materials are scheduled to go into classrooms in the 2021–22 school year.
Samples of materials submitted for consideration are generally available for public viewing at TEA and each of the 20 education service centers. In an effort to limit unnecessary contact, prekindergarten sample materials can now be viewed digitally on the Proclamation 2021 Pre-Adoption Samples webpage.
Don't Just Survive...Thrive! Tips for Distance Learning in the Prekindergarten Classroom
In August 2020, the Early Childhood teams at Region 5 and Region 4 Education Services Centers met to discuss how to support our prekindergarten programs. In order to help prekindergarten teachers move from survival to thriving in our new instructional situation, we decided to create a document to guide teachers in overcoming two main challenges.
There is a need for resources that are equivalent to elementary and upper-grade classrooms readily available for prekindergarten. The suggestion is often made for prekindergarten to adapt resources that have been designed for the upper grades.
There is a need to incorporate Developmentally Appropriate Practices using technology tools in virtual and face-to-face prekindergarten classrooms. Technology tools are often used for children to sit and react to prompts in prekindergarten classrooms. For instance, teachers limit the use of technology tools to playing YouTube and Go Noodle songs, or for learning games.
This is our six page guidance for prekindergarten teachers.. Our goal is to provide guidance on designing and implementing face to face or virtual learning environments in which prekindergarten teachers, students and families thrive.
