Late-Hire Requirements

TAC 228.35 Late-Hire Provision

COHORT 10:  Candidates accepted July 2023 through Spring semester 2024 may seek employment for the 2023-2024 academic school year.

The following must be completed:

• All required TExES passed for teaching assignment and placement

• Complete 15-hours of FBE video observations.

• It is preferred and highly recommended to have attended Classroom Management coursework before accepting a teaching position!

TEA Requirements for Late-Hires - 90-Days

Should candidate be hired with ONLY TExES passed the following must be completed: within 90-days from the first day working with students.

• 150 training hours uploaded to TOPP Profile
• Remaining 15-hours under the supervision of a certified teacher Field Based Experience Documentation uploaded to TOPP Profile

Rules on District Training Hours

• Candidates accepted prior to July 1, 2023 must obtain ALL training hours through TOPP.

• District training hours obtained during internship cannot be used towards 300 hour training requirement.

  • Exception will be for those candidates accepted after July 9, 2023 and hired mid-year 2023-2024 (limit 50 district hours)

  • District training certificates to be used during the 90-day late-hire window and from date initial certificate is issued.
