This session aims to address the unique challenges faced by emergent bilingual students in achieving academic success. Throughout the session we will explore how educators can effectively utilize two innovative tools—Ellevation and iReady—to enhance language acquisition and content mastery. Ellevation provides a comprehensive platform for tracking and supporting language development, while iReady offers diagnostic and instructional tools tailored to individual student needs. By integrating data from these platforms, educators can make informed instructional decisions, differentiate learning experiences, and foster a supportive environment for emergent bilingual students. This workshop will include an overview of these tools, practical implementation strategies, and real-world case studies that highlight successful practices. Our goal is to empower educators with the knowledge and resources needed to elevate the educational outcomes of emergent bilingual students, ultimately preparing them for greater academic and lifelong success.

La enseñanza explícita para la transferencia de destrezas en entre dos idiomas es una estrategia innovadora para el desarrollo de lenguaje y la alfabetización bilingüe basada en las investigaciones pedagógicas actuales. No debemos de asumir que la transferencia lingüística se producirá sin una enseñanza explícita. Podemos organizar la enseñanza de los conocimientos de lenguaje y la alfabetización de forma intencionada y estratégica para promover el bilingüismo. Juntos aprenderemos a organizar, secuenciar y asignar recursos didácticos y enseñar para promover el conocimiento académico y el desarrollo del lenguaje, con el fin de obtener resultados competentes tanto en español como en inglés. Se demostrarán estrategias para la instrucción de la transferencia interlingüística.
