Both initial certification (20-hr) and recertification (8-hr) training are offered by Region 14 ESC. The ESC establishes and maintains a database of school bus driver certification records, files reports, and assists school districts in maintaining strict compliance with the provisions described in all applicable statutes, rules, and requirements pertaining to the operation of the student transportation system. In Addition, assistance is provided in developing policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the district's school buses.

REGION 14 ESC ON-SITE 20 HR CERTIFICATION REGISTRATION OPTIONS
Email a purchase order from your district to Misty Bloomingdale at mbloomingdale@esc14.net. Include the name of the attendant and workshop session number along with your PO.
When the purchase order is received and entered into the PITStop system, you can go into PITStop and register for the class.

Your district must have a Proctor to administer the test. Click the link for proctor Instructions & the Application.
To get an enrollment card for your new driver, we'll need the enrollment certificate form filled out and sent back to us with a copy of their CDL.
They will also need to be registered for the next 20-hour bus driver certification course. The enrollment card expires 2 weeks after the 20-hour session.

Region 14 Field Service Agents will assist in the development and implementation of an effective two-way communications network that will result in a strong partnership among the TEA, the ESC, and local school districts. This system shall provide for a process that transmits timely and accurate information to all parties and guarantees that local district concerns are heard at the ESC and TEA. Services provided include:
Establishing communications linkages with each district superintendent and other district personnel as determined through consultation with superintendents.
Providing up-to-date information to local personnel regarding developments, initiatives, and priorities at the state level through cluster meetings, regional advisory committee meetings, on-site visitations, and telephone communications.
Serving as liaison interface to obtain information from the state level to clarify and/or address questions arising at the local level.
Serving as the district resource contact when local district personnel needs to locate a source of assistance for particular questions.
Providing technical assistance to local districts as related to integrated district and campus planning, waivers, compliance and accountability monitoring, credit by exam, etc.
Region 14 ESC is an approved sponsor for the training for school board members as required by Texas Education Code 11.159.
The program consists of:
Initial 16 hours of training for new school board members including 3 hours of Orientation to the Texas Education Code, 3 hours of Team Building, and 10 hours of continuing education as identified by the assessment of training needs related to the Statewide Standards.
Ten hours of training for experienced board members including 2 hours of update training on the Texas Education Code, 3 Hours of Team Building, and 5 hours of continuing education as identified by the assessment of training needs related to the Statewide Standards.
EISO [Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes] & Human Trafficking are required training for all school board members every 2 years.
Training sessions are scheduled throughout the year at appropriate times and locations to allow for maximum participation.
