National Scale Integrated Science:
Setting the Course for Scientific Networking
Coming to the D.C. Area this Year!
This years CONFAB will take place in Gaithersburg, MD at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center October 16-18th!
CONFAB will be followed by an ESnet Site Coordinator Committee meeting on October 19-20th at the same location.
Register for either or both events now via the button below!
Who should attend Confab23?
Scientists across all disciplines who want to vastly improve their workflows and collaborations to accelerate time to discovery.
Network engineers from national labs and universities who support science IT services for researchers on their campuses.
Research networking professionals who partner with ESnet to move data across the world.
The meeting will showcase scientists who use ESnet today to perform real-time data analysis, leverage multiple supercomputers in parallel for large-scale simulations, and collaborate with colleagues on experiments as if side by side while thousands of miles apart – among many other applications.
Why Attend Confab23?
"The theme for Confab this year is aligned with major new DOE efforts such as the Integrated Research Initiative and the High Performance Data Facility. These initiatives point to a future in which data, compute, and networking capabilities become increasingly interwoven to provide a seamless infrastructure for scientific discovery.
Our goal is to convene as a diverse science and user-facility community, together with infrastructure experts, so we can successfully co-design this integrated science future together. That is why I am personally inviting you to attend Confab23, the second iteration of ESnet’s user meeting."
— Inder Monga, ESnet Executive Director
Last year's Confab in Berkeley was a fun and resounding success, described by one attendee as a "huge step forward for ESnet's support and technology development."
Let's continue the conversation this year in D.C. — and together chart the future of scientific data management and integrated scientific infrastructure!
This year's program is here. In addition to lively conversation and informal technical discussions between our ESnet, DOE, and scientific community attendees, we look forward to seeing you for:
Updates and discussions with DOE on major initiatives underway supporting our shared vision
Scientific keynotes by Nicholas Schwarz on Light Source and BES developments, and Amadeo Perazzo, on LCLS and DOE HPC collaboration
An overview of quantum networking activities by Inder Monga, as part of a lively evening program
And much, much more!
