A Day in Primary 3

Soft Start

In the morning, Primary 3 self-register and complete their own lunches.  Children are given the opportunity to play with different resources and other children.  This allows children to get settled into the classroom, while developing different skills.

A soft start allows me to have discussions with the children, allowing for further relationships to be built and to explore their interests.

After the soft start, a short carpet time then follows where we discuss our targets for the day and our timetable.

Integrated Day

Children are given the opportunity to take control of their learning throughout the day.  The use of an integrated day allows children to chose when they complete their targets whether it be completing numeracy during literacy or completing numeracy during numeracy for example.  This allows children to develop their time management skills as they know they must complete their numeracy and literacy targets before lunchtime.

Every day children must complete a numeracy and literacy target, they then might have an additional target for an extra curricular area.  Children then take off their magnets once they have completed their work.
