Class Novel - 'Holes' by Louis Sachar
Our current class novel is 'Holes', written by Chill by Louis Sachar.
The book is about a boy called Stanely Yelnats IV and how he is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Such as when he is blamed for stealing a famous rugby player's shoes and sent to Camp Green Lake where they are made to dig holes everyday in the blazing hot sun. Soon he realises they aren't just digging to build character...
IDL - Democracy
In class we have been busy preparing for the House Captain elections. We have been learning all about Democracy the process of Political Elections. This has helped up learn how to create our own campaigns by writing speeches and making up our own unique Manifestos.
Literacy
In literacy we have been learning all about the core reading skills:
Clarifying
Summarising
Predicting
Questioning
In our reading groups we have been busy learning how to apply these skills to analyse a variety of texts. By doing this we have been busy creating a variety of informative posters to evidence our thinking and findings.
Maths
In maths we have also been very busy.
Maths relays - You are in groups of 2 or 3 and you have to answer 10 questions. It a race for the the team to finish first. and every time you get it right you get a point.
Escape rooms-You are in groups of three and there is this question on the board. You need get them all right to finish the puzzle in time.
Code breakers - In the code breakers we have a bunch of problems and the answers spell out an answer to a question
Morning starters- In the morning their will be some questions on the board to get us started for the day.
PE
In PE We have been learning about hockey. We have been practicing dribbling, passing and have recently started playing matches.
