Community Sponsored Awards and Scholarships
Every high school in EPSB nominates one student and then one student from the district receives the award. The deadline for us to enter our nominee is April 9, 2022 so please send your name, contact information AND rationale to support your nomination to Mr. Darryl Weinberger by email: darryl.weinberger@epsb.ca
Criteria: The Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence was established to honour the District’s longest serving superintendent, Michael A. Strembitsky. It is given to the top three Grade 12 students who model inclusivity, leadership and compassion and have demonstrated excellence in their overall performance.
The Division Academic Excellence Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate overall exceptional academic achievement in a range of subjects in International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or Regular programming.

The Division Career and Life Pathways Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the following areas: Business, Administration, Finance and Information Technology (BIT), Health, Recreation and Human Services (HRH), Media, Design and Communication Arts (MDC), Natural Resources (NAT), Trades, Manufacturing and Transportation (TMT), and Career Transitions (CTR).

The Division Fine Arts Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the performing and visual arts, including subjects pertaining to music, art, dance and drama.

The Division Health and Wellness Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and/or model leadership in one or more of the following areas: Physical Education, School Athletics, Health and Life Skills and overall wellness, such as healthy life choices.

The Division Humanities Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the following subject areas: English, Social Studies, and Languages.

The Division Math, Science, and Technologies Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in a subject area related to Mathematics, Science or Technologies.

Each community sponsored award, bursary or scholarship listed below has its own criteria and application requirements. The application process for the 2019-20 school year will be open Friday, February 7, 2020.
Before completing application forms, student applicants will need to:
Request letters of reference and prepare a variety of documents. See the GETTING READY TO APPLY section for each award.
Letters of reference or recommendation should address the criteria of the award or scholarship and they must be signed by the individual giving reference or recommendation. The letters need to be scanned, saved and submitted as a .pdf document.
Gather, scan and save all documents using the student’s EPSB ID followed by the type of document (e.g. 12345678-ReferenceLetter.pdf). Files may be no more than 100Mb in size.
Prepare any video submissions. The following file types are permitted: .WebM, .MPEG4, .3GPP, .MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .FLV, .OGG. Video files should follow a similar naming convention, using the student’s EPSB ID followed by the type of file (e.g. 12345678-Video.mov). Files may be no more than 1Gb in size.
Print and complete the parent/guardian consent form (if under 18) (linked here on bolded text).
Please note: Students need to complete the application form in one sitting. Partially completed application forms cannot be saved.
Once an application form has been submitted the school principal will receive an email asking them to support the student’s application.
