Tell me more about Kindergarten!

Kindergarten at Sweet Grass is a half day program.  Students may register for Kindergarten  for the 2024 - 2025  if they turn 5 on or before December 31, 2024.  So they must have been born in 2019.

Our Kinder team works with the Specialized Learning Support team who provides specific supports to Kindergarten students such as occupational therapy (hand grips, writing techniques), Speech Language Pathologists, Behaviour Specialists and specialized assessments if needed.   In addition, the Spanish Kinder class has a Spanish Language and Culture assistant that participates in the class throughout the year.

In Kindergarten, there is a daily communication pouch that goes back and forth from home to school each day.  Teachers also provide monthly newsletters, calendar of events and other important school information on Schoolzone.  Schoolzone is our online platform for communicating with parents.  Parents will receive login and password information on the first day of school.

However, we also believe in a good balance of using technology and the more traditional pencil and paper learning, looking through books for information as well as teaching and learning through active play and movement.

A typical day in Kindergarten would consist of:

Please remember your child will be welcomed and loved the minute they walk into the school. We always try to maintain a warm, safe, and caring learning environment where individual differences are respected and celebrated.
